James Hatton, London, 8-day marine chronometer, circa 1810, mounted within gimbaled brass tub in an unmarked mahogany box, silvered dial of approximately 5 inch diameter signed "Eight Days, Chronometer, by Jas Hatton London, 275," KWKS, fusee-drive with spring detent escapement, free-sprung bi-metallic Z balance with blued steel helical hairspring, s#275. Comes with matching key.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, light spotting to plates; excellent dial with some light spotting and fine scratches to surface; excellent hands; excellent tub and gimbals retain most of the original finish, light fine scratches and spotting to exterior; box in excellent overall cosmetic condition, loss of finish and a few smaller scratches in areas; excellent domed glass crystal.
